Attempting To Find A Quality Hotel In Gloucester Discussed In Basic Terms

It is relatively easy to find a quality hotel in Gloucester. Gloucester is a city which is part of the county of Gloucestershire – this probably was something that you could have guessed. Gloucester lies close to the Welsh border, and on the River Severn, around about 32 miles (51km) northeast of Bristol, and 45 miles (72km) south-southwest of Birmingham. The Three Choirs Festival is located in Gloucester, this provides the area with a great economic boost during the period of the music festival. It is nestled in the beautiful Cotswolds so is definitely a city worth visiting for the scenery alone, let alone the fabulous Cathedral and the interesting docks.

In fact, during its glory days the port of Gloucester was a foremost centre for the shipment of timber, corn, metals, wines and spirits and graceful tall ships were a common sight. Today lots of the historic warehouses have been transformed and the docks with their museums, pubs and restaurants offer a major attraction for tourists.

Now as I say, it really isn’t a problem finding a quality hotel Gloucester, although there are no actual 5 star hotels in the city. I found there to be five 4 star, twelve 3 star hotels and quite a few below that mark. One can safely say that all of the 4 star hotels that I looked at were good quality, ranging from classic business hotels to the more family-friendly hotel with adjoining rooms and family deals. I would even go as far as to say that a bed and breakfast would be a suitable choice – I would however prefer to stay at a plush hotel.

As always I found the Internet to be an excellent source of information when I was attempting to find a quality hotel in Gloucester. After I have narrowed my choices down then I like to phone the individual hotels and ask them a few questions regarding tariffs, places to see in Gloucester and what restaurants they can recommend. I always feel that if the member of staff is polite and sounds professional then I am on to a winner, so to speak. If they are surly and unhelpful well, strike them off your list. Now I am going to look online for hotel Manchester airport for my next vacation, the internet rocks!
